LEADING THE WAY

We always talk about the 1st movers advantage. We talk about the rewards and recognition individuals get, who take initiatives. Also huge benefits that companies get by implementing new concepts and ideas.

The other side of the fence is always green.

What about the obstacles on the way.We are least concerned about the hurdles they need to jump upon or rather remove permanently. In both the cases they make it easier for the follower -

1- In case they jump upon, the follower knows what should be the ideal height and timing for the perfect jump to cross the hurdle. (apply projective motion)

2 - In case they remove the hurdle, its just a cake walk for the followers.

So, we can think that being a follower or being a part of the mob is much safer job, but there is no free lunch (not even lunch or dinner). There is always a trade off.Higher the risk, higher the return and vice-a-versa.

Though its a tough task, but once you succeed, you have a zeal to build such a road that people are bound to follow(Even its not the safest one). Its difficult to be always correct, but if you have the confidence that you have given your full effort, let me remind you its time of percentile not percentage. You would be scored 100 and others would be assessed or evaluated in accordance to your performance. Also at times people would surpass you, and others would question about your preparation and performance. Take it as a challenge. It will give you the energy to work harder and deliver far from your own expectation.

In due course of time you may feel yourself far ahead, lonely and facing tough times, but its a part and parcel of life. You need to take it with a packet or even a sac of salt.(A pinch of salt wont do.Prefer Tata Salt, Desh ka namak).Take few sacs of sugar, make a syrup of salt, sugar and water.Have it in one go, which will rejuvenate you and you again start sprinting like USAIN BOLT(naam to suna hi hoga).

Its just that in life you rely on different shoulder. So,render your shoulder to even those who haven't helped you and you don't expect anything from them in future, because people would have helped you irrespective of whether they have received anything from you or not.

  1. Add few drops of lemon juice. That will improve the taste a lot.(Just kidding). There is a Bengali song "EKLA CHALO". The theme is more or less similar to your post. The difficulty for a leader lies in choosing the right path which may seem diffiult and making it a cake walk for others.
